  1. There were many strange animals in this country such as the wild deer, wild cat, the fox, and rabbits and hares. The deer was very common in Ireland long ago, he used to roam through the woods, and he could jump a ditch any height. People used to hunt this deer. Wild cats were very common. They are almost as big as a dog. They were cross: if you went to go near them they would try to scrape you.
