  1. A Local Song

Come all you young fellows that's fond of a joke

Come all you young fellows that's fond of a joke,
I'll tell you just one as soon as I smoke, About an old goat that strayed from her home,
And after a lad one night she did roam.
She came to the cross-roads in the best of good cheer,
Says my bold Shémus Brady, "you'll turn up here",
Early next morning young Lawrence arose,
And out to the garden directly he goes.
He saw the old goat there eating his hay,
He kicked her and beat her and chased her away.
She was not long there till we dressed her with straw,
She went down the road like Gogaille Gaw.
Early next morning I got out of my bed,
I saw the old goat like something half dead
I asked for some milk for to colour "my tay",
She made an attempt to run away.
She leaped on the road and she swore a big oath,
