  1. There is a ruin in Cavan town called the old abbey. Owen Roe O'Neill and Myles O'Reilly better knows as Myles the slasher is buried there. It is situated in Abbey Street off Bridge Street. It was built in the year 1609. It is about 200 years derelict. It is in the parish of Cavan and Barony of Annegelliffe and county of Cavan.
It must have been attacked because the remains of it is there. There is no ruined monastery or church in the district. The old abbey is much like a round tower.
