    day. Squares were cut out on the potato bread, and each square was called a farrel. The shape of a cross was cut on the boxty bread, and on the wheaten bread. The bread was baked in ovens, pans, and griddles. The oat meal bread was baked in front of the fire, standing against a support. This supports usually a griddle, it had three feet, and it was made of iron. There was no special kind of bread ever made on any special occasion that I ever heard of.
