- On Stephen's Day the "Wren Boys" go round. They are boys dressed up with masks and carrying a holly bush with some rags to represent the wren. They go from door to door collecting money.
- Everybody wears shamrock in memory of St. Patrick.
- Being the last day before lent this is a great day for parties. People eat pancakes in which they have put a ring, a sixpenny bit and a button.
