  1. There used to be an old school in Glenmalure. It was small and there was only one teacher - a Miss Neill. Only the remains of the walls are standing now. The children wrote only on slates and did not have exercise books.

  2. There was another old school near where Ballinatone school now stands. The last teacher was Mrs. Reynolds. The school was destroyed in a bad storm.
