The song was given to me by Thomas Tallon, Redbog, Tinahely on 16th April 1935. He is 55 years of age, a labourer, has spent his life in Redbog & sang the twenty-six stanzas from memory. The song is sometimes called 'The Slasher's Grey Mare' because John Byrne lived in a place call 'The Slash.'
