  1. On the night before the Twelfth Night there is a cake made of cow-dung and ashes. Then twelve rushes are got and the green skin is peeled off them. The part that is left is dipped in hot lard and left to dry and after a while get hard and like a candle. Then on the Twelfth the cake is got and the twelve ruskes is stuck in it in the shape of a cross and lighted. The rosary is then said. When the candle die down the ashes are gathered and put in the chimney along with the cake in the chimney. It is said that will preserve the house from all dangers during the year.
