  1. There ws a big wind in 1898 it knocked down trees and blocked the yards and cused a lot of damage. It blew down houses, blew roofs of cos-houses and killed a good deal of people. Many cattle and sheep were killed.
    There was a big frost in 1908 and it lasted three weeks. There was a foot of frost on the canal and boats could not go on it.
    People carted manure across it. The canal company was at a big loss. It took it a month to melt away.
