  1. On the lands of Prospect formerly of Major Eyre and recently divide amongst the local people there is one of those so called fairy forts. It is situated about a mile from the village of Ballycumber and commands a view of the railway station. It is of the circular type with a growth of trees around it. As Ballycumber is about ten miles from Athlone it could be Danish origins as the Vikings generally made their raids from the Shannon which runs through Athlone.
