he stepped from the Devils' Bit Mountain in Tipperary. It is not mentioned where he went afterwards.
No one seems to know the origin of the name "Mount Bolus". The village itself is in several townslands, one of which - Rath Ciaragáin - has been chosen for its name tríd an Gaedhilg
Rathrobin, where the Bedulfs had a castle built about the time of Cromwell, is the only townsland with an English name around here. It got the Robin from (or after) a Rory O'Molloy who was locally called Robin. The O'Molloy's lived in Rathrobin before 1629. the O'Molloys (a branch) lived at Rachlehen too, but this is already on record.
The name "Mount Bolus" seems to be a mystery. No one around can make even a guess as to the origin. There is no such place according to the O.S. maps. Several townlands met in the village, Rath Ciaragáin, Mullach Ruadh.
