the fireplaces are all of beautifully cut stone. There is a tablet of cut stone over the door which bears the inscription, "By God of might, I hold my right" and over that is written, this house was built by Lady Mary Dane Finglas and her husband Sir Jasper Herbert in the year 1626. It was knocked down by Cromwell and his followers from Horan's field. The chimneys are built in groops of three two, and one. The castle is built on my uncle Terry's land about fifty yards from the dwelling house.
