    Last week I passed through Charleville
    And many a sight I spied.
    Castle towers and shady bowers,
    And lawns extending wide
    And lawns extending wide my boys,
    Where the deer bounds fair and free.
    And the wild fowl run in the noon day sun in sweet security.
    But near the gate I must relate
    I met an aged man. And I said
    Where are those people gone
    Pray tell me if you can.
    And where-fore this deserted house
    Through the roof the rain comes
    down. Behold the bailiffs work he said
    And he cursed the agent Brown
