- In a tunnel leading from the Castle to Tombrack tradition says that there is supposed to be a golden gate. A hound is supposed to guard it. Some time ago when men were digging the channels to lay the sewerage they heard a very hollow sound. They said they would go down that night but fear took hold of them and they postponed their visit.
- There is supposed to be coal or copper in a field belonging to Miss O'Neill on the Bunclody Road.
- Many years ago, two fields about a hundred yards outside Ferns were covered with something like butter.
