  1. Another story is told of St. Aidan
as a Monk in Wales. One day he was carrying water to the Monastery.
He was passing a cliff. The water cart slipped and went over the cliff. St. Aidan said some prayers and the cart hung in mid - air and the next moment the cart was again in the road as before
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
  2. The following story is the local belief about the origin of Mogues Well.
One day while the men were working building the Abbey, they became thirsty and had no water to drink. They told St. Aidan and he immediately hit the ground with his staff and a lovely well sprang up.
