Notes from Lizzie Dempsey, aged 13 years, Killincooley, Kilmuckridge.
An old woman named Mrs Dunphy used to spin thread with a wooden spinning wheel.From the thread so made she used to knit stockings, which it is stated used to last for over two years.She used also to spin flax and sell it over to a man named James Dunne in Duck Lane (a townland of Kilmuckridge) to have it used to be made into cloth for blankets and coats.- Collector
