    hounds chained together. Two fellows crossed the field one moonlit night in the hope of seeing the hounds, but as they were drawing near they disappeared and they could only hear the rattling of chains and were afraid to go any farther.
    There is a place in Johnstown which is supposed to be a rath. To this day it is called the "Haw! Haw!" The people used to hear the laughing there and they used to be afraid to pass by it late at night.
    Years ago a girl dreamt of a crock of gold hidden in Ballybrennan Churchyard. She dreamt of it three nights in succession and she told an old woman about it. The old woman said that the gold should be meant for her, but it would be serious to dig for it and that she should go there by night and bring nine men with her. The poor girl did so and when they came to roll off the stone under which the gold was supposed to be, the girl had to hold the lamp and to her great surprise a black hen flew up out of the place where the gold was hidden.
