    the edges of each sod meet he continues on ploughing on each side of the first two scrapes until he has six similar scrapes ploughed which makes a complete ridge.
    In wet or low lying land spades are used for making ridges.
    Spades are not made locally they are bought in the shops.
    Long ago they were wooden ploughs in use but they are not to be had now.
    Before the potatoes are sown the best seed is selected and cut in splits and each split must have at least one eye in it.

    Drills are made in the following manner. The land is ploughed then it is cross-ploughed. When it is cross-ploughed it is harrowed and cross-harrowed.
