  1. In Irish dairies long ago water was brough from a place, where three streams met, and taken if possible just before sunrise. This was used for washing the milk vessels and the dairy floor and walls.
    If a foxy (red haired) woman or worse still a woman with a squint happened to come into the dairy while butter was coming was coming it might come and look all right but it would be neither good for man or beast. Those were old remarks passed about butter.
