  1. The Three Legged Horse
A blacksmith named Cuniffe lived in Cornamaddy. One night about 12 o'clock a knock came to his door. On opening it he found a man standing there with a horse. He asked Cuniffe to shoe his horse but Cuniffe refused as it was too late. The man craved him to shoe the horse and Cuniffe agreed. He then discovered that the horse had only three legs. When he had finished the stranger gave him no payment. He said he was going to a Battle in Valy's round. If his side won the blacksmith's trough (cooling) would be full of gold the next morning but if it lost the trough would be full of blood. When Cuniffe went to the trough next morning he found it full of blood.
    (Story told by his mother).
