  1. Local Fairy Forts and Kings,
    The old people of this District Hall Moate, believe in the fairies and there are many old forts. One is a fairy fort in father Mahon's field in Moneen, also in Mahon's field in Ballinamudda. There is a fort at the back of Campbell's house in Ballinamudda, and a fairy ring in Dolan's field in Baltrasna, also in Belton's lawn in Riverpark. There is a fort above in Walsh's of Hall and people people believe that fairies there still.
    A story is told of a child of a year old who lived there. One night the fairies came in great crowds. They went into a house and were about to take a child.
    "Hand her to me" said a fellow in green.
    "No" said a fairy in blue. "Hand her here".
    So they kept on arguing until a man passing by called out "Give her to me".
    So the fairies had to give up the child to the man who brought her to safety.
    There is also a story told of a cow
