    There are two ruined castles in the school district one in Croughill and another in Tougherstown. The Normans built them about 1400 years ago. They are in ruins now about 200 years. There is a gold chair buried in the castle in Croughill. It has a dungeon. The people were foully put to death by the Normans.
    There are two ruined churches in the district one in Conra and one in Taughboyne. The one in Conra was knocked by Cromwell about 300 years ago. There is an image of a chalice carved out on a flag stone in it. The one in Taughboyne was built in one night and it was knocked down by Cromwell in 1649. There was a castle in Coyne
