  1. (continued from previous page)
sharp turn he met a fairy man. He said he would give him a black thorn stick for the cow. The man was not willing to take the stick at first but the fairy man said it will be more than worth it. Then the man took the stick and brought it home. The next day he went to the landlord with the stick. When he went into the office the landlord asked him had he the rent and he said he had no money but he had a stick. He put the stick upon the floor and at the same time he said do our duty stick. Instantly two fairy men came out of the stick and said they would kill the landlord. He came afraid and said he would give him a receipt and a big sum of money if he would take away the fairy men. From that day the fairy man gave him anything he asked.
