- (continued from previous page)the shores of the lake. It is said, if the swans fly over a house there will be a death in that house. The Wild geese come to this county in Autumn and go away at the end of Spring, but they do not rear their young in this country. They fly very high when they are going to go on a long journey, when they are going to rest on a lake or pond convenient they fly low. They go in a line after each other feeding.
- The Corncrake is a wild bird. She goes to a foreign country in the Winter and stays with us for the Summer in a meadow and she makes her nest with grass. She sits on the eggs for a fortnight. When you hear the Corncrake it is a sign of Summer.
