- It is said that at one time that St Patrick was going and he was trying to get by un known to anybody and when he was passing this house a woman put her head out the window and spoke to him. St Patrick turning back to her said that there would be a curse on The Shrath for people squinting out at anybody passing. From then on The Shrath was called the rocky road or the road of the stones. The far side of The Shrath next Fletcherstown there is a big stone on the roadside and years ago it was the custom when taking a corpse to Clongill Graveyard to go around this stone three times then place the corpse on the stone and pray. If they did not do this it was said that the ghost of the people concerned came back and walked round it themselves.Told to Liam Snowby William Allen
