    they were met by priest-hunters. "Yees are late, gentlemen" says the Maquis. "This is a friend of mine that I am seeing off to Dublin"; and the two rode on. Sir Thomas rode with the priest all the way to Dublin and did leave him till he had left him with faithful friends.

  2. One day a gentleman rode up to the hall-door of Mr Rowley's House in Maperath. Now by the look of him Mr. Rowley suspected that he was a priest "on the run" and quickly he took him in and asked him who he was The gentleman admitted that he was a priest. Then Mr Rowley hid him in a secret chamber.
    Hardly was this done when the priest-hunters rode up like the wind and pounded on the door. Mr Rowley opened it and the priest-hunters accused him of having a priest in the house. He admitted that
