    There are many stories and tales told about Ballinabrackey and among them is the story of a town that stood there many long years ago and about an old woman and her son that lived in it.

    There was a great battle fought in Ballinabrackey and there is supposed to have been a very fine river running through Ballinabrackey and there were very fine fish caught in it supposed to be a private fishing for the Árd Rhí of Erin. And that is how Ballinabrackey got its name - Baile na Breachaighe.
