  1. In olden times the funerals were from the houses and the men that were at the wakes were presented with clay pipes and tobacco and the women with snuff. When a young person in the teens died the comrads carried the coffin to the grave and if it was a girl that died her comrades carried white sticks and they were placed round the grave with a cross a the head.
    When a person dies in the house the clock is stopped
    Some of the holly that decorates the house at Christmas is kept to fry the pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
    People do not throw out the water on Hallow Eve or they might throw it on a poor soul.
