    her son was she said she could not remember the name, but that there was an "al" at the end of it. The gentlemen asked her was it a Corporal. "No" she says "not a corporal". "Well my dear woman, is it a General" he is"? "No not a General," says the woman. "Well I do not know what he could be" says the gentleman, "is it a scoundral" That you honour is what he is," says the poor woman "Well," says the gentleman, "he was that before he joined the army at all."
