  1. During Shrove marriages most frequently take place in this locality. No marriage take place during the holy season of Lent.
    The people say:-
    "Monday for Health,
    Tuesday for Wealth,
    Wednesday best day of all,
    Thursday for Crosses,
    Friday for Losses,
    Saturday no luck at all."
    There are no customs or beliefs connected with Shrove that I know of.
    Long ago matches used to be made, but nowadays everybody makes their own match.
    Money is given as dowry. Stock, and goods are given on some occasions.
    People do remember marriages taking place in the houses. Long ago the ladies had a weaving competition in some big barn, and before it was over many couples were away to the priests' houses to be married. The customs observed on a wedding day are, when the bride, and groom have their breckfast they go on their honeymoon, and when they
