- There are two fairy forts in the school district. One is named Paddy Smyth's mount, and the other Mc Gahan's lies.
Both are in the townland of Waterstown.
They are in view of one, and other. They are circular in shape. There is a fence of earth, and stones around each.
There is no entrance stone on any of them that I heard about.
Many a one visited them, but I do not know of any one entering them, and exploring them.
There is an old man in this neighbourhood named Patrick Lear, and he told me this story about his great grandfather.
This man sold a horse to a man; the man paid him for the horse in Ardee at the fort. When he went there, and delivered his horse he took a walk through the beautiful stabling, and he was surprised to see a great many men lying across their horses fast asleep, with the exception of one who had no horse, and seeing this horse that the man brought(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
