  1. The names of the farm, and domestic animals are as follows:
    Horses, cows, cattle, sheep, pigs, sows, calves, goats, dogs and cats.
    Some cows have no special names. Sometimes we call ours, blue, summer time, and magpie.
    When driving the cows we say "go on" "shee".
    The cow house is cemented with low mangers in it, a window on it, it is white washed, and is disinfected inside regularly.
    It is called the byre.
    The cows are tied to stakes always.
    They are tied by the neck.
    The tyings are made of chain with a crook at the end. The tyings are home made.
    The local names given to the various kinds of tyings are, rope tying, chain tying and tug tying.
    Some customs connected with milking are:
    some cows give their milk more freely when a persons sings or whistles when milking. It is also a custom to make the sign of the cross on the cows side when finished milking. Some customs connected with horses are, if a person talks nice to them they will do their
