  1. Potatoes are grown on our farm.
    From three to five acres are sown under them.
    The amount varies each year.
    The ground is manured by putting farm manure on it before it is turned up.
    The farmer ploughs the land then he opens the drills.
    The potatoes are sown in drills.
    It is a plough that is used.
    Wooden ploughs were used long ago.
    There are none left now, they are all gone.
    The spades are bought in the shops.
    The treatment potatoes get is, first they are cut into halves then they are put in drills and there is manure put on them.
    The treatment given to the potatoes when grown, first drill-harrowed then moulded then when they are over ground they are hoed and moulded again. Then at the end of July they are sprayed with blue stone and washing soda.
    They are dug out with a plough and the young people gather them.
    The people sow the potatoes in drills.
    It is a plough that is used.
    The farmers pick the potatoes.
    They are stored in pits.
