  1. Once upon a time a farmer was sick. It was the Fair Day. He had a cow which he wanted to sell. He told his son to take the cow to the fair, and to get the highest penny for it. He went to the fair and was offered fifteen pounds but would not take it. Then another man came and offered him the same amount. He refused. He said he wanted the highest penny. Then a man came with a penney on the top of a long stick and said : "This is the highest penny in the place." That man got the cow.
