At last the red globe had disappeared behind the purple crest of Sliabh na gCloch. Peter did not wait for the twilight to deepen but set out at once. He had scarcely completed half the journey when fear overcame him, and he turned back. So the hoarded wealth of Gyles still remains undiscovered. The lordly Castle has vanished from the earth, its site merely marked by a small clump of trees.
