    In a house in the townland of Knocknagoran in this parish two old people called Connollys resided. No matter how long they churned no butter could be made. One day while churning they noticed a hare concealed under the table. The old man who had a gun in the house, but no cartridges, put a sixpence in it and fired it at the hare. The sixpence struck the hare's leg and broke it. After this by some witchcraft the hare turned into a woman whose leg was broken. This was the woman who was stealing the butter. After this the old people were very successful in churning.
