He in the day of trouble.
    Came boldly to the fight.
And left his home its Splendours.
    To fight blind Tardy Right.
But if might shall conquer right
    We never will despair.
    For friends never failed.
    Oer hill and dale.
    In galant County Clare.
    Our Connaught men.
    Will never bend.
    Them rights they must proclaim.
They'll fight like their Forefathers did
    At Aughrim and Athlone.
Farewell again ye hill and vale.
    My Absence wont be long.
