"Roilg na bhFeara Gonta"Underneath Castle Mary in the townsland of Clashoquirke, Bansha, is a depression or hollow, about an acre or so in area. It is told that a Battle was fought there about 1001 A.D. between the Munstermen and the Ossorians and that after the Battle the wounded men were left to die in heaps in this hollow. Human bones were discovered there on several occasions.
