  1. Fairs are held in the local towns of Clonmel, Cahir, and Clogheen. They were not always held in towns. Buyers transacted business in fields known as fair-fields long-ago.
    There was a fair-field in Mr Thomas Walsh's farm, which is still known as the fair-field. There are no fairs held in the country now, but buyers sometimes come to the farmers' homes to buy their stock.
    There was a fair held in Adfinnan long-ago, but it is not held now as it was too far from any railway station.
    Fairs are held int he streets of the local towns. Toll is not paid now but it was paid long ago. The toll was paid to Mr Keating owner of the Cahir hotel.
    He used to charge five pence for a car load of sheep going to the fair, a penny for each sheep, and three pence for cattle going to the station.
    When an animal is sold some money is given back to the buyer for luck. In order to come to terms for the sale of the animal they strike one an others hands, and when the bargain is made, they mark the animal with mud, or
