    and the smith was always looked upon as being very big and strong. He has a very big anvil and there is a stream outside the door where he put a red piece of iron to cool before he would bring it out to use it. He has a house near the forge where he lives.

  2. There are two forges in our parish the smiths are Pat Bourke, Cullokill, Borrisoleigh, and Jim Bourke, Greenane, Templederry. They have been there for many years. Pat Bourke's forge is situated in Cullokill and the other is Greenane. The two forges are very near crossroads, and they are on the roadside. The tools that is used by the smiths are sledge, hammer, anvil, tongs, shovel. The smiths shoe horses, asses and also make farms
