    Old Crafts - Candle-making 3 - 12 - '37
    This craft was always carried on in this district in olden times. The people had several ways of making candles, but the candle usually made was the "snabóg" or rush candle. They collected a number of rushes of equal length and put calicloth around them. This being done they melted goose grease which they put into a deep tin. The rushes were put standing in it, and when they were lit the grease kept them lighting for a long time, but the people only used them when the supper hour was going on. In this way they were very valuable but machinery gave way to craft.
