On the 1st of April 1917 we had the great snowstorm. In the evening about three o'clock it began to snow and it remained snowing for the greater part of the night. The wind blew very hard and the snow drifted and in some places it reached several feet in height. Cattle and people were smothered in the snow. Several cars were abandoned on the roadside and the owners had to seek shelter in near by houses.
In 1905, a storm was also witnessed. Trees were blown down in the gale and the roofs were blown from(continues on next page)- Informant
