    The Big Wind of 1839 is said to be the greatest storm ever recorded in Ireland a great many buildings were wrecked and the roofs of Ahane Church was blown off and the windows knocked out. But few lives were lost.
    In 1893 a severe storm occurred in the district. Early in the night it started snowing and it continued on for some time. Many people lost their way and hundreds of animals were smothered.
    In 1902 there was a severe storm which caused damage all over Ireland. In Castleconnell a house named "Shanacluan' was badly damaged. The
