    It was the custom long ago, and is still the custom in this county to burn lime in kilns. The men first go to the limestone quarry and break the stones small. They then carry the stones to the kiln and put them into it. They mix culm through the stones. Two layers of stone to one layer of culm ; Then they burn it and it forms into lime. People go to the lime kilns and buy the lime for white-washing and building purposes and top dressing land
