  1. (1)
The wran, the wran, she's the king,
The eagle says she's no such thing
A bunch of ribbons by her side,
And the Emly boys will be her guide
We followed this wran ten miles a day
Through mud, through mire and yellow clay
We hit her a tip on the "bottomybee"
And knocked her off the holly tree.
    (2)
The wran, the wran, the king of all birds,
St. Stephen's Day she was caught in the furze,
Although she was little, her family was great,
Rise up, landlady, and give us a treat.
Up with the Kittle and down with the pan
Give us our money to bury the wran
We broke her knee in Ballyvistea
And knocked her off the holly tree.
A bottle o' wine and a bottle of beer
And I wish you all a happy New Year.
