The ball they had was very large and heavy and it used to be hurled with large wooden clubs. then the two parties would begin to hurl the ball and instead of staying in the field they used to go across country over ditches and hedges until they came to a certain place. Then the side that kept on the ball all the time would be the winners. It was very dangerous and as well they used to be bare foot.
