    pupils at these schools than in Summer, because they used be saving the crops and hay, at home. The people long ago used learn Arithmetic, History, Needlework and house keeping. The masters used to stay at a farmer's house for about a week or a fortnight. The payment they got was free board and lodgings from the people. The people of long ago had no copies, but slate and slate pencils.
