  2. During the penal times mass used be celebrated in many places around the district. At Doolans in the parish of Monagea there used be mass said there long ago. It used be also said near Shines in Barna. In the townland of Killoughein where the cill was a priest was often seen in vestments and he passing to and fro.
    Often the gate going into the cill was locked and it used be open again in the morning.
