  1. In the locality of Newcastle West there is a rock, and it was thrown by a giant from the hill of Rooska, The hill is about four miles from the town. There are fingerprints to be seen on the rock where the giant caught hold of it. Saint Ita said that she would build a church near wherever the rock would land, the ruins of that church are still to be seen. Around the church there is a yard, and it is used at present as a burying ground. Near the rock there is a white-thorn tree growing.
