  1. About a mile distant from Clouncagh, there is a famous old monastery, commonly known as Cloun Eilte. It looks with all its grandeur on that lovely vale, where the river Scaw winds its way westwards. It was founded about the seventh century. Old writers state that Cloun Eilte, Clonough and Clouncagh are three sister parishes.
    The church which is in a good state of preservation, is built of solid masonry, and this gives ample proof of the skill of the
